We are everywhere

We spent the day in Wisconsin.....took a county road and found this little village which I decided to name.  As you can see we are still not incorporated.  The church is the "Babcock Community Church"............didn't want to appear pushy.    Coaxed Janet into the Babcock cafe......she had homemade chile and I had roast pork.   We topped it off with a piece of cranberry apple walnut homemade pie which was really good.  We are located in the middle of the cranberry capital of the world.   Cranberry bogs all along both sides of the road.  There is a huge Ocean Spray factory right in the middle of our town.  Nobody that we were able to talk to (one person) knew anything about the history of the name of the town............we will do some research.
Well, the sun is going down and tomorrow we go to Chicago to officially begin the mish..........keep us in your prayers..........

Summers Ending

Summer is ending and so is my patience. The weather is turning cooler and I can smell Fall in the air. We had a great time with Grandma and Grandpa and can tell that they are anxious and ready to start their mission. Tomorrow they set off for another adventure. We will be relaxing and gearing up for 3 kids in school this year....FREEDOM! Here are some pic's from our adventures and my homeade strawberry rhubarb pie (rhubarb grown in my backyard)! I need to keep Dad happy.

School Starts Again

This Friday started Berlin's second year of school. And yes, she is at the stage where she insists on dressing herself.

The Babcock family was at Winter Quarters

These names were recorded on the memorial plaque at Winter Quarters, near Omaha Nebraska.  Your ancestor, George Babcock, was not married at the time and had no children yet.  These names were probably cousins of George and his brother, Adolphus.  Both joined the church in 1832, either in New York or in Missouri.  They were in Nauvoo and left with the first saints in February 1846 or 1847.  We really do have a pioneer ancestory......

Dad is getting pretty crafty with his internet skills. Here is a little JibJab he created with Berlin and Jamison. We thought it was pretty funny.

Well it has been a while since I blogged, due to our trip back west. We are home and excited to be here. We had a great time seeing family and going through the Twin Falls temple. But of course the trip wouldn't be an adventure without someone (me) getting sick for half the trip. I got the worse case of strep throat I have ever had and had to go through 2 antibiotics to finally kill it. I don't know if this is due to a lack of lymph nodes in my neck or just bad luck. But happy to say that I am feeling much better. We returned home to a horrible stench in our garage, realizing that Tony had unplugged the fridge not remembering that there was some food in the freezer...sick! So he got the honors of cleaning it, I love when it isn't my fault. Anyway...the reason we drove west was to attend Tony's littlest brothers wedding. Happy to say all went well and I have a new sister in law (had I only known I would end up with as many sisters as brothers maybe I wouldn't of cried for a sister everyday of my young life). Here are some pics from our adventure

magic valley revisited

We left the magic valley again last week after being set apart for our missionary experience in Chicago.  We made a visit to Rexburg, to get reacquainted with Bo Bo, and are currently hanging out in Longmont with Berlin and Jamison........then on to Minnesota before making the final drive to Chicago.......we are both anxious and excited............Here are some pics of our visit to Jerome and environs..........

Remembering Grandma Babcock

Today is Grandma Babcock's Birthday. I thought it might be nice if we wrote down some of the things we remember about her. Just click "comment" below to contribute.

Of course, my greatest memory is the candy jar. In fact, I have the very candy jar safely wrapped up and stored at my house. When we become grandparents, I'll display it proudly on the coffee table and fill it daily with hard candy and caramel cubes.

For some reason I also remember the foot massager thing they had in Pocatello. Does anybody else remember that?

During her last years while she lived in Jerome with Mom and Dad, she started calling me a "pickle face." I'm not sure exactly where it came from. I think we were having dinner one night and I requested a pickle. From that moment on I was referred to with a smile as, "pickle face."

Boulder County Fair

Last night we had FHE at the Boulder County Fair. The lesson? Why Mormons don't believe in rat tails. Sure, there was no sign of Randy Flynn. They didn't have gluten-free funnel cakes. And I didn't get to dunk one of the Crozier boys by throwing a baseball at a metal pole. But we had a grand time.

she did it again

Hi........for all of you who follow "Janetisms"........here is another.   This morning she was trying to get me to do something I had promised to do.........."OK Jim, put your mouth where your words are"........thought you would like it...............P

on the road again

M and P reporting from Pocatello, Idaho (where it all began, at least for P).

It all started here, 68 years ago in Poky,
It used to be a town that some would call Hoky.
I have fond memories of Don's Arctic Circle,
Coming back again is a real perk-le

With apologies to the Bard...............

Note pics of the three Pocatello lads.............

Off Again

This is Steve reporting live from Mike's living room. The parents are officially homeless again. Just a few moments ago, they headed back out onto the road on a journey that will ultimately lead them to their new quarters in Chicago, IL. This morning, we got up and went to their ward. After, we packed up the very few belongings they had in their basement apartment, loaded it all into a small white Honda and that was that.

"A Summer Limerick about Spending Time Apart"

Matt and Bobo miss the girls and their mama.
Matt writes. The dog eats food and drinks wa-wa.
The pup would like-a to breed-a
with a Chihuahua named Chiquita.
Let's get him fixed before he makes a Puguaua!
Love,
Matt and Bobo
